Relationships are like a tree, growing and blossoming into the sky. But sometimes we hit a rainstorm and lightning breaks the branches, which fall to the ground. We must learn to strengthen these branches so that these bonds grow and mature with us even through the hardest and roughest storms. The trunk is our rock, symbolizing our greatest values of love, respect, trust, commitment, friendship, wisdom, and loyalty – all the elements that nourish the tree to become stronger as each day passes.
It is sometimes difficult to admit we need help because too often we feel judged or scared and we may not know who to trust. It is okay to be uncertain. Individuals seek counseling for all sorts of reasons: stress, out of control emotions, relationship conflict, or even low self-esteem.
If you are or were in an abusive relationship, it is best to receive help sooner than later. My role as your counsellor is to be a mediator and provide you with tools to help navigate through conflict when it arises.
No matter what the issue, I am here to provide a safe, inviting, and trusting environment where you are able to discuss your concerns openly and honestly. I want to be able to help you feel confident with your choices and feel empowered to have faith in yourself.
I leave you with a small piece of Christian D. Larson’s poem Promise Yourself to reflect on your own life experiences: challenges you have faced and positive moments in your life that have shaped the person you have become.
To be so strong that nothing
can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness, and prosperity
to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel
that there is something in them
To look at the sunny side of everything
and make your optimism come true.
