Amrit obtained her Masters degree in 2000 and became registered as a Clinical Counsellor in 2001. Amrit"s experience includes working at a Family Counselling Centre, in the Psychology department at a Rehabillitation Centre, covering a private practice maternity leave and facilitating Parenting after Separation Workshops. She has gained extensive experience successfully treating anxiety, depression, anger issues, grief and loss, relationship issues with couples and individuals, postpartum issues, emotional eating, parenting issues and more. Amrit would describe herself as a calm, caring and compassionate person, who always thrives to educate herself in the most current therapies and provide the best possible care. She knows that everybody cannot afford extensive therapy so she strives to apply all she has learned to help her clients resolve their issues as quickly as possible. Within the first or second session she will teach you tools to stay calm and to improve your ability to handle whatever difficult situations you are facing. The next stage is to resolve the issues/traumas. You will begin to decrease/eliminate feelings of anger, depression, anxiety, worry, feeling out of control with a certain behaviour (over eating, irritability toward others, addictions, etc) or dysfunctional interactions in relationships.
When Amrit is not with clients she is with her husband and two children, often enjoying nature, such as biking with kids in tow. She also enjoys staying healthy and strong with yoga and weight training.
