Anger is one of the fundamental emotions we can feel for a variety of reasons. When we feel someone has done us wrong or someone else that we care about. It can be motivating to feel anger in that we are more inclined to try and correct or help to restore an injustice we feel has happen, which is all equal to healthy ways of being. However, for some, anger can equal outbursts of rage and feel completely out of control and dangerous. People who experience this or witness this feel that anger is not a good thing, so I describe this type of anger as dis-regulated anger. I help clients learn to regulate their anger so that it feels they are in control and anger is accessed in a health way.

Grey Matters International and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D approaches issues of anger management in a very humane yet fresh perspective. You see, anger is a normal emotion but it is the valence (intensity) as well as the coupling choice of what one does with this that is the problem. Telling someone to "not" do it or modifying behavior with a trite psychological plan that only breeds a compliant response is not the way to change anger. Brainwave optimization is a new cutting edge technology that allows one to rewire circuitry responsible for reactivity driving the anger. If you are angry, there's a reason for it. I will not help you to simply "manage" your anger. Rather, I will work with you so that you come to a full understanding of the root cause or reasons for your feeling this way. I will teach you simple, yet highly effective, techniques so that you learn to tolerate your more turbulent, uncomfortable feelings, to express them in a manner that is healthy for you and for those you are in relationship with and to work with, not against, your body's own internal wisdom.

While anger is a natural human response to frustration or upset it needs to be managed appropriately. In counselling, I help clients of all ages identify and understand their anger "triggers." We then process together appropriate responses to such triggers and practice such reactions. Over time, the goal is for clients to use the tools and strategies learned in counselling and apply them in their everyday lives at home with family, at school with peers and in the work place with colleagues. I look forward to working with you to make positive life changes.

Anger is a normal emotion and needs to be expressed like any other emotion in a healthy manner. Do you have explosive reactions; do you take your anger out on others or yourself, or do you suppress it? If anger is getting in your way, I can help you to learn how to manage it. Anger is a secondary emotion to more painful emotions such as sadness, shame or guilt. I will work with you and create a safe environment where you will be able to process these emotions. You will learn how to identify your triggers and calm yourself before you lose control. By learning to manage and express your anger in healthy ways will help you in your relationships, career and self-esteem. You will learn ways to remain calm and communicate your feelings. You will learn to respond instead of react.

Anger management counseling can help to identify stressors and learn the steps to stay calm in the face of anger. The goal is to handle tense situations in more constructive and positive ways by reducing the emotional and physical arousal that anger can cause. It will provide the tools to take back your life and resolve the triggers that result in unplanned anger reactions.

Real Solutions to Real Challenges. Common Sense Techniques. Anger can be helpful or it can be destructive. Anger unchecked and not understood can consume a persons attention and energy and keep them stuck. Anger can be hepful in that it is telling us that something is wrong. We may feel unfairly treated, overpowered, and hurt. As a result individuals may become defensive, withdrwan/silent, or even aggresive if they sense injustice and then go the attack. Quite often if the intensity of the anger response seems out of proportion to the current incident then this is most likely due to a cumulative history that comes rushing in to the present and hence the over reaction.

In our work together to address anger and/or anger management, we would first try to identify the underlying emotions that are fueling the anger. Anger is a "masked emotion". It is usually covering other emotions like fear, shame, disappointment, regret, sadness, anxiety and/or frustration. By identifying these foundational emotions, we can determine the unique means by which we can lessen and manage the anger that is getting in the way of you enjoying your day to day life.

At the bottom of anger is hurt! Tell me about how you got hurt and the anger will subside. If you don't already know, your anger will kill you first and not whatever/whoever caused the anger. It is a matter of time that you will get physically ill from anger. Of course, we will be doing some other forms of interventions, you need to work with me on this! Life is short. Being angry actually makes you feel that life is long! Time seems to pass more slowly as you are hung up on anger. You don't have to be like this!
