It’s been a wonderful four decades working with individuals, couples and groups sitting across from me in my office. These folks presented a large variety of challenges such as anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, PTSD, couple issues, etc. and came from many walks of life, age groups, sexual preferences and ethnic and religious backgrounds. Now a new stage has opened up through the internet which has provided an exciting opportunity to work together with people located anywhere in the world.
My approach encompasses a holistic view of each person as a multi-dimensional being, thus all aspects of their life need to be considered: social, physical, intellectual and spiritual. Where appropriate, I always want to be sure that the client’s physical health, such as their diet, exercise and sleep hygiene, are addressed.
In addition to working with those facing difficult mental and emotional challenges, I also provide coaching, guidance and support for those ready to optimize their talents and abilities.
Some Background History
Twelve years spent in Asian monasteries and temples in India, Japan, Burma and Nepal, studying under the guidance of some of the most renowned wisdom teachers of our time, has resulted in a unique synthesis of Eastern and Western modalities to help clients.
For a number of years, I led mindfulness workshops at a Cancer resource centre, counselled in psychiatric and general hospitals, coached business people, tradespeople, government officials, athletes, musicians, artists, actors, etc. Earlier in my career, I worked at a California State University counselling foreign students as well as teaching in the English and Linguistics Departments.
For over a decade and a half thousands attended weekly meditation classes through a registered charity I established in Toronto. Classes were held once a week as well as one day non-residential retreats and three to ten day residential retreats, in British Columbia, Ontario and upstate New York.
