Inherent in life is stress and anxiety. Many of us have not learned appropriate means of dealing with stress. It eventually becomes a negative feedback loop -- one begins to have stress and anxiety in anticipation of having stress and anxiety. My job with you is to help you identify the causes of these patterns and to learn more appropriate and effective means of managing them; in other words, breaking the negative feedback loop. A key component of dismantling the feedback loop is becoming aware of the patterns that trigger your responses. The ultimate goal of our work together is to eliminate the negative and create a positive feedback loop.

Anxiety and stress may be managed successfully by learning positive coping skills such as engaging in physical activities, using positive communication skills to change your relationships, or medication (in which case I will refer you to a competent psychiatrist). When medication is needed, research shows the best outcomes result from a combination of "talking therapy" with medication. In the 90s I struggled with panic attacks myself, so will be able to draw on my personal experience as well as my education and training to help you manage your symptoms.

Your stress may be triggered by job loss, illness, relationships or by "positive" stressors like a new job or a baby. I provide a solution-oriented and healing environment for people who are suffering from the stress of living a "real" life. I provide a place to change the way you talk to yourself so you will stop beating yourself up and start predicting and creating positive results in your, or your family's, future. We will join together to increase your ability to cope with stress and appreciate your strengths as a human being. You can increase your tolerance for making important changes, learn to accept uncertainty, and cope with the things in life that can't be changed.
Anna Dasbach, M.A., LMFT
I draw mainly on my studies of Yoga and my practice of meditation and use mindfullness based stress reduction to help clients deal with issues of anxiety and stress. I will often times start a session with a simple mindfulness exercise and I might use somatic experiencing or visualization if appropriate to provide skills and tools for minimizing the effects of stressful situations and to learn new ways and coping mechanisms to respond to stressers in life.

Anxiety is an internal alarm system that gives us information about our internal state as well as possible danger in the external world. Often, anxiety is a signal of deeper, more intense emotions such as sadness, anger, and fear. It can also be a consequence of not living authentically. Once these deeper feelings are identified and expressed, they can be readily released. For example, when we say "Yes" when we really mean "No," we will often experience anxiety. In this case, the anxiety is providing us with a warning that we are not being honest (living authentically) with ourself and/or another. Therapy is the perfect place to explore this common emotion.

Feeling anxious and stressed have become a common emotion people are feeling in their everyday lives but, we weren’t meant to live our everyday lives feeling stressed and anxious. When we are feeling stressed and anxious it is a sign from our body telling us that something in our life is not working. I provide a safe, supportive and unconditional environment for you to express your emotions and explore areas in your life that need to be adjusted, if not adjusted then healthy and simple ways to cope with stress and anxiety.

Anxiety is an emotion we all have. It's helpful to have some anxiety. Anxiety can motivate us and help us accomplish things. However, constant anxiety, due to stress or other triggers, can be physically and emotionally damaging. There are many approaches to reducing anxiety. Learning about what triggers your anxiety, how to relax and breathe, and learning coping skills are just a few of the ways I help anxiety sufferers. Please call for a complimentary interview.

Anxiety can take a devastating toll on our daily life. I work with both cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness meditation to teach the brain new way of managing emotions that are associated with anxiety. CBT challenges people with anxiety to change distorted thinking patterns that generate negative self views. CBT uses logic and analytic thinking to change the prefrontal cortex. Mindfulness mediation works in the posterior cortical region that helps us pay attention. By staying in the moment, we can interrupt ruminations and self-defined negative traits.

Anxiety can take the fun out of life. It can cause your body to hurt and make you feel sick. And it can be just plain annoying. But you don't have to live with anxiety, and you don't have to try to fix it by yourself. We can work together to come up with a plan to stop the constant worry and help you feel better and get more enjoyment out of life. There are many successful strategies I have used to help people relieve stress, let go of worry, and free themselves of anxiety. Together, we can find ways to get anxious thoughts out of your head so you are free to enjoy your life.

Anxiety is a debilitating disorder that deprives people of their happiness and sense of well-being. I work with children and adults to help alleviate their suffering. Together we explore their anxiety "triggers" e.g. what brings on their anxiety, and work with question those assumptions. Next I help my clients learn how to use tools to combat the thoughts that can paralyze and torment them and bring their negative thoughts back under their control, helping them to feel happy and confident once more.

One source of Anxiety is a life-style full of pressure and stress when you may not be sure why you are so driven but you are moving too fast to slow down and find out what you are really feeling. Another, deeper source of Anxiety is an internal conflict in which one aspect of you is pushing in a certain direction and another aspect is either resisting or pulling in another direction. A third source of anxiety is a history of serious life difficulties when you may have been abused, ignored, or mistreated in some way. All of these kinds of anxiety can be helped if we can sit together and understand these anxieties in more depth. and find new and more effective coping mechanisms

Anxiety and stress rob us from living a fulfilling life. There is hope, because it does not have to be this way. Many times keys to our stress and anxiety can be hidden in our thinking patterns as well as things that we fear. When one begins to understand the anatomy of their fears, anxieties and stress, they can learn to take control of them and no longer let them control them. Having someone walk through the journey of confronting the anxiety, stress and fears with you have can not only be conforting, but can also allow you to develop the confidence you need to face life and its many problems more effectively.
