As a Christian myself, I know how hard life can be and get sometimes. I know how important it is to have a higher power to look to for guidance and support. When those times get hard to see or hear what God is trying to tell us, Christian based counselling can be beneficial. I do not have certification in this area, however, I do provide a religious based counselling approach and can relate to being tempted or tested.

I do not use biblical counselling unless a client is requesting it. Otherwise, I respect and work with people on whatever spiritual belief system that they choose. I make no effort to convert anyone to my way of thinking but I do have a very high regard for the freedom to follow their conscience. I am always willing to share my faith when asked, however.

I enjoy talking about the "big questions" of faith with my clients, and can spirituality as a major component of counselling. As a seminary graduate with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies, I understand the key issues of the Christian faith and the theological differences between denominations. I seek to help you understand the interplay between the spiritual and the psychological, and ultimately bring a more wholistic worldview to your life.

I have read it, studied it, and taught it, and seek to apply it in a practical way in my everyday life, in communication, working, and in my relationships. I was brought up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus into my life when I was 7 and then invited Him to be Lord of my life at 18. At 39 I started to get my act together when God humbled me by taking away almost everything He had given me. Since then I have committed to be a man of integrity and the best counsellor I can be with the grace and strength He provides.

Life can be tough. & I do not believe we were left here to face its challenges on our own. Or that you are reading this purely by accident. At times of crisis, our faith can be truly tested...& we may question even the core of what we always thought we believed. For many people, spirituality is an important part of their belief system and helps inform who they are. While I work with clients of all backgrounds, many clients specifically seek out therapists who share similar values and beliefs as them. In offering counselling to Christians, I do not impart my views or beliefs, but simply hold space for you to process your experiences and allow you to ask yourself questions you may not feel comfortable asking in other places.
