Yes, I do practice Christian counseling and I use biblical references when the clients are Christians or want to know what the Bible says. Counseling is about treating yourself and others in a loving way. That fits beautifully with the Bible's teaching. Christian counseling is a way of bringing faith based principals that matter to you into the therapy space. This is where faith meets science and works with it, not against. Mind, body and spirit are all connected and the spiritual component is essential to complete wholeness and restoration. I believe the Bible is the infallible an inspired word of God and pertains to all areas of life. We will incorporate scripture as well as evidenced base therapeutic approaches and take inventory in all areas of your life from a biblical perspective. How much integration is up to you. We will work together to help you live a life aligned to your values and beliefs.

What does the Bible say about that? - God is His infinite love left us a book with all kinds of truths and encouraging words for times of doubt and despair. I see the Bible as a mirror that we can use to assist us look inwards and see what may need change. I also see it as a powerful source of truth in times when the world is bombarding us with lies. Although I am not a strictly biblically based therapist, I am deeply steeped in Christian, Jewish & Buddhist traditions. My personal life is deeply contemplative and guided by a spiritually passionate commitment to aligning myself with the G-D within and who holds us in spiritual unity. I am fluent in many traditions but was raised Christian with strong faith as a core abiding principle in our home life. I carry this forward today and am committed to helping myself and others evolve spiritually. I've been following Jesus for over 30 years. I'm not about Bible-bashing or quoting Scripture you already know ("Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger.") with the belief you should just be able to do it because it's in the Bible - if you *really* love God. But instead I show my clients how they can live out what God and the Bible have to say about their life and relationships in realistic ways that you can actually do. My clients learn to personally experience the love, grace, mercy, gentleness, self-control, kindness, compassion, peace, and forgiveness, the Bible promises - and how to offer these experiences in their relationships with others.
