My work with couples is developmental and focuses on self-confrontation, differentiation, and collaboration. My clinical approach to couples therapy consists of teaching emotional intelligence aimed at improving conflict resolution and communication skills. The goals of treatment consists of working on issues related to trust, communication, intimacy, parenting issues, and so on. The clinical work consists of learning and understanding emotional intelligence and the ability to implement the skills for the sake of the relationship.

When you are looking for a couples therapist, you need someone who is trained in couples therapy specifically. Often therapists say they know how to help a couple, but one's training in couples therapy is typically limited to one class in their entire education! My approach is to help each partner see clearly where s/he stands, what s/he stands for, and what meaning the relationship holds. How do these values come into play in the relationship?
