We want connection- a space to be vulnerable and truly seen. But emotional intimacy is risky, and that scares us, especially with a difficult history! Instead of being vulnerable, we build up walls to protect us. Let's break down the walls and build a loving connection.

Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Pleasanton
Alameda County is a melting pot of different peoples, with significant populations of Asian, African-American, and Latino residents. While these ethnic groups have many distinct qualities, domestic violence is something that families experience regardless of their ethnic heritage.2 Divorce is another unfortunate occurrence that couples and families in the Pleasanton area go through. Split families, mixed families, and single-parent households create many new family dynamics that can cause strain in family relationships.
Families that have split up might need guidance and reassurance during such a difficult time. The Catholic Community of Pleasanton offers bi-monthly support groups for spouses who are separated. Workshops for couples who are married but having troubles are also available. For couples just setting out on their journey, classes for engaged couples are offered. Programs are open to all, regardless of religious affiliation. For more information, call 925-600-1765.3

The Office of Family Relations works to build systems of support for families, including educational and outreach programs regarding common mental health issues. BHCS also provides programs to help youth transition into adulthood. Help with housing and employment is available, as are detox services for those struggling with alcohol or drug dependency.4
