Living as a couple takes more than falling in love. It takes two healthy brains! Our unique holistic approach includes a brain health assessment, so that each one can not only understand how their own brain operates but also how their partner's brain operates. Then we apply treatment based on this far more targeted approach to couples counseling. We also offer nutritional supplementation recommendations, EMDR and biofeedback relaxation therapies along with traditional psychotherapy, to support each individual's optimal functioning. By enhancing the health and wellbeing of each, the common goal of a satisfying relationship can more easily be reached.

Couples counseling is a specialty because not only are you looking at one person's needs, but you look at the needs of two people. We have to determine the perspective of each person and their core values and how that integrates within the relationship. What role expectations does each person bring to the relationship? Which expectation is unrealistic? Which is unhealthy? I work to determine what unhealthy and unrealistic expectations are within the relationship and work on areas including communication, conflict resolution, intimacy, parenting etc... Each relationship is different so each treatment plan is catered to the couples individual needs. The couple has to be committed to work.

COVID-19 Stress, tension and anxiety places heavier weights on the best of relationships. Sheltering in place brings new challenges to daily life - who watches the children while both are “working from home”. . . how to prioritize the many new demands? I have over 35 years of working with couples of all ages and stages and 10 years seeing couples online as an E-Therapist. I can teach you how to resolve conflict, gain or restore a loving relationship that can last a lifetime. Weaving a Telehealth into this new reality can give you what you need to come through this crisis stronger and closer.

The word couples suggests a sense of togetherness, meaning two people, who want to be together, get together for the purpose of experiencing something good, something meaningful, or something positive. However, coming together can be a source of pain if couples loose sight of their main reason for coming together and not resolving their conflicts. Quite often, one of the most difficult things for couples to do is to learn to communicate effectively with each other. Couples usually feel stuck and unable to express their needs. If you truly care about your relationship with each other, my intent is to help you make your connection with each other stronger.

Couples work is unique and interesting. What a lot of people don't understand it that of course you have different viewpoints - you are in different bodies, have different life experiences and are actually looking at different views! Many times the problem is simply communication: no matter how many times you tell your partner what you need, they just don't hear it. That is where I come in- helping people to get heard and also to hear clearly! In this way there can be a softening and a coming together, with both partners feeling loved and understood. You don't have to continue fighting, and counseling doesn't mean you failed. It is a gift you give your relationship to help nurture it.

In couples counseling, a couple gets an opportunity to do something they rarely, if ever, do: discuss their problems with an impartial third party in a neutral environment which is not a part of their daily life. The counselor's participation adds a new perspective to the dynamic and begins to show the couple what they can accomplish, or maybe used to accomplish, but which has been undiscovered or neglected. My approach combines in-the-moment processing with ongoing feedback, presenting of relationship tools, and communication skills training, according to the couple's needs. Affection and communication are often the key, as they are often the foundation of every relationship.

Couples conflict ususally results from each person not dealing with his/her own damaged emotions. I work with each person bringing healing to his/her soul (mind and emotions). Once a good degree of healing has taken place, the couple is better able to understand each other and communicate on a healthy level. Also, I offer temperament analysis which is called Creation Therapy. This enable me to share with you the unique creation genetically coded into you at the time of your conception. CT identifies your strengths and your weaknesses. CT identifies your needs and how to get them met. Couples by coming to understand each other's temperament are better able to relate. What are the most common couples' issues? If you are thinking "communication, conflict, sex, money, child rearing" you are correct. However, most therapists will go after the symptom on each side of the couple fence thinking that the way to effective change is by getting each party to "work" on their respective "issue". Many times the parties don’t agree but comply. Imagine if you could align the unconscious brains of a couple and stop the "working on your issues" part that has become so popular in therapy settings?
