Anxiety and stress can be crippling. Many times the cause of the anxiety and stress can be rooted in the fast paced lives that we live. Other times there can be multiple issues causing the anxiety. My approach to anxiety and stress is to uncover and address the issues contributing to the problem and at the same time help manage the symptoms that are resulting from the anxiety.

There are things that you can do to calm your nervous system. Sometimes anger is also at the root of the cause of anxiety. So addressing past issues and working through anger would be beneficial. If someone just wants coping skills, then coping skills it is.

Problems with anxiety can manifest in many ways. Panic attacks, obsessive compulsive disorders, avoiding certain situations or places, and how we interact with others. Getting to the core of the anxiety with EMDR can help clients process the event that has created the anxiety desensitizing its triggers to help the client move past the traumatic event. Children can also experience worry and anxiety. These may include things such as problems with friends, problems in school, worry about the future or their parent’s relationship. Getting help is the first step to making change.
