Anger provides information about what we think/feel is being threatened, and it provides the energy to act on that information. Since we are wired to become angry WHEN appropriate, only the misuse of anger is a problem. However, anger often hijacks our thinking which then compounds the original problem. When helping clients develop improved anger management skills, I help them understand the elements of our emotional-physical anger response and learn to diffuse them and effectively use the information and energy that anger provides.

Lynette provides anger management group and individual therapy using cognitive-behavioral approaches based on the What's Good About Anger? curriculum. Clients will benefit from using this approach and curriculum since it is evidence-based. This model of anger management is described and widely distributed over the Internet in various newsletter and other online publications and has been extremely well received by hundreds of local, national and international anger management participants. It is currently being used by self-referred clients, court-referred clients, HR referrals, corporate executives, physicians, law enforcement, and others needing qualified anger management services.

I use a pyscho educational approach with working with anger management. In that I teach about anger being a secondary emotion that often protects hurt and fear. We go through the anger cycle and ways to change that cycle. The goal is help clients move from destructive behaviors to constructive communication and behaviors. A typical anger management process takes four to six sessions.
