Young children will sometimes feel a ball of emotions and not understand how to navigate the outlet. Together we can help your child work through the life changes they may be experiencing. My approach to counseling with children is to work collaboratively with the parents. counseling with children is part of a family systems approach. Children do not develop struggles in a vacuum so working with the parents and the rest of the family as needed is of added benefit to the child in therapy, regardless of the age of the minor child involved. Therapy may be weekly or every other week, as needed and determined when we develop the treatment plan.

Children often express their experiences and feelings through play, and this becomes an important tool for learning about themselves and others. Children often express and resolve inner conflicts through their play. The therapist helps the child to express and understand the world through play activities - sometimes acting out conflicts and feelings, then interpreting (as appropriate to age) how a similar issue or feeling is present in the child's life.
