Many compare our emotions and/or history to an onion that needs to be peeled away layer by layer. There's some merit to that, and both involve tears at times. Fortunately, for people who delve in to gain a deeper understanding of how they've gotten to where they are, eventually the tears fade away and the new understanding and insights lead to a more satisfying life.

My approach is eclectic, taking what is effective from various approaches of psychology to help the client to heal. My approah is candid and direct which often helps cutting through dysfunction. Dysfunction stops the flow of love between individuals; to be functional again means restoring a relationship back to what it's main purpose was in the first place - to love, support and to to embrace so growth can occur. Therapy doesn't begin until an individual takes responsibility for what they may be doing that is unhealthy without blaming shifting. Discovering what is co-dependency may also be an excellent tool. I also help client to learn about Old Brain/ New Brain concepts.

I use an integrated approach to psychotherapy, incorporating cognitive-behavior, dialectical-behavioral, and acceptance and commitment therapies. My goal is to help you to understand historical messages that have contributed to present-day struggles. I work with you to challenge negative thinking and develop strategies that will help you between our sessions.
