Having worked as an employment specialist, I consider myself an expert in all types of career counseling. While not a "head hunter", I have amassed a wealth of information as to how job search, obtain an interview, execute a successful interview and maintain a position. I have worked extensively with the N.Y. State Education Dept. (Access-vr) to assist clients with mental health disabilities to succeed as individuals and valued employees. Partnering with employers and on the job coaching has been the key to my success. My belief is that everyone can work and that it can be a process but can change someone's life.

Finding or changing a career requires understanding your own values, skills and goals, and what the job market is like. Here are some questions that should be answered: are you suited to entrepreneurship or is steadiness a priority? Do you follow managers easily at a job or do you need to be given leadership responsibility and trust? What kind of skills do you have, what kind of income do you need. Above all, what will motivate you so you feel that you are using your full potential? A lifetime of both working for others, and running a consulting business for 30 years, means I can help you navigate the important and greatly varied world of work, finding meaning and earning income each day.

Work can be something fun, something to look forward to, or it can be a burden to deal with. Through work, an individual can experience a sense of work engagement (vigor, dedication, and absorption). Additionally, individuals can experience burnout, which can cause them to hate their job. Individuals spend most of their waking hours working; it is important to find meaning and satisfaction in one's work. I have spent numerous years helping individuals with their careers, not only decide on choosing a career path that is meaningful to them but also to help them find meaning and satisfaction in their existing jobs.

It's really important to do what you love. My clients will be able to gain clarity about the work they want to do. I will assess client's strenghts and provide valuable feedback. Clients will find more joy in the work they do or realize that they possibly need to change positions depending on their situation. Often times, teens have a hard time know what they want to major in college or if they need college. Together, we will explore what aligns to the client's goals and values.

Careers are integral to the identities of many people, while for others careers are simply means for attaining a happy life. Whether you’re developing your first career or looking to switch careers, I use a combination of assessment batteries and counseling to explore my clients’ goals, preferences, and aptitudes to identify their career path and develop a plan for achieving it.

Work is an enormously important part of our lives. As is often said, we spend more hours of our lives at work than anywhere else. So making that work as good as it can be is vitally important to our health, sanity, and general well-being. Yet that, like so many things, can be easier said than done. I can help you explore your upbringing and education, your personal values, needs, and desires, along with ambitions and fears to help you find and succeed along a well-chosen professional path.
