I work with men who are successful in the workplace and have a family, but they can see all of this slipping away if they don't address the drinking. They feel stressed and overwhelmed. Let's face it, they've never been good at expressing what's going on inside their head or finding a way to deal with emotions. It's just not something they learned in their family. They need to keep this strong exterior and persevere. This isn't going to work in the long run though. When you keeping pushing things down and finding ways to escape, it'll just pop up elsewhere. I can help you find new ways to cope; Find new ways to get things out and feel confident again (not just like you're treading water).

Feeling out of control and unable to stop engaging in harmful behaviours can feel shameful, over-whelming and hopeless. My approach to addiction treatment is based in a harm reduction model. This approach acknowledges that maintaining abstinence may not be a realistic goal. Without judgement we will work together to set realistic goals that seek to reduce the negative impacts of your addiction. You may choose to explore the roots of your addiction and any other related issues. It will always be up to you.
