I provide Christian counseling and Christian Marriage Counselling to individuals, couples, and families. My background includes both Christian and Spiritual experiences and training that allows for a deep understanding of the importance of the spiritual and religious aspects for individuals, couples, and families in their healing process. My approach to counselling is attachment based and trauma informed. I have extensive training in emotionally focused therapy, the gold standard in couple's therapy, which I apply in my work with couples, families, and individuals. Emotionally focused therapy closely parallels the Christian faith in how it understands human personhood and connection. I am trained through a biblical lens and comfortable including faith in the work we will do. During our sessions I take an engaged and active role in the process, focused on helping you to identify the areas where you may be stuck and working with you to make changes aligned with your goals and faith.

If requested, I offer Christian counseling to assist indivduals to cope with emotional, relational, and spiritual difficulties. Often incorporating faith into therapy can provide a sense of comfort, meaning, and hope, as well as a framework for understanding and addressing our challenges. I will use various therapeutic techniques, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or other evidence-based approaches, while integrating faith-based principles and practices.

Are yoin the midst of a troubling life event like the death of a loved one or pet, the loss of a job, declining health, financial problems, and/or relationship issues? Being reminded that having a strong and resilient faith can be a very supportive and powerful intervention. The ultimate goals of therapy will be to identify behaviors that are inconsistent with having a strong faith in God, so you can become more accepting of God’s plan for you. I believe there is purpose in your pain. God gives you only what you can handle. With support I will help you learn how to accept what you have been given and figure out what are you going to do? I am a licensed practitioner with the Church of Religious Science which is a Christian based, non denominational, church. The foundational doctrines in this church follow the truth of Jesus' teachings. A fundamental teaching of this perspective is that God is love, and as such, Jesus is the representation of God, or love, in human form. We all have the potential to be "Christ conscious" and just as Jesus said, we all are capable of doing even greater works than he (John 14:12). My work as a Christian counsellor is not as adherent to a particular religious dogma as most, but rather broader, less dogmatic, and more firmly seated in the actual teachings of Jesus.

Our faith and spirituality are incredible resources of hope, strength, meaning, connection, and love. That's why it's so important to find a therapist who understands your faith and knows how to provide sound biblically-based counselling. I've spent more than 5 years studying theology for both my personal and professional growth to ensure I can provide therapy that is both theologically sound and spiritually-guided. While my experience is in the Evangelical Christian community, I am happy to serve people from all faith-based backgrounds.

My credentials include a BTh (Bachelor of Theology) and MDiv (Clinical Counselling) from Tyndale University and Seminary, as well as an internship at People's Church in Toronto, ON. As a Christian Counsellor, I offer Focusing which involves inner healing and a nonjudgmental walking alongside you in your journey. Having had experience with church abuse, I welcome those who have had negative spiritual experiences. If you have another spiritual worldview or no spiritual view, therapy will not include Christian counselling discussion. Share your spiritual worldview openly at our first session and your desires will be respected.

As a Christian, I greatly appreciate how faith and spirituality play a role in our daily lives. Yet God still calls us to be in the world and to experience many different aspects of human life, even things we think God could fix. Making sense of the differences between what we believe God wants and what we face daily can be distressing and lead to despair and depression. Talking about these losses with someone with a similar faith can be vital as we navigate these challenges.
