We all being life with a family, one that influences every aspect of our lives, from our first moments to our last. Our family shapes who we are and who we become. Within the family system we learn language, habits, customs and believes, how to view and observe the world around us and learn how to love, and how to interact with others from these first important relationships. Shauna's family therapy offers families a way to be healthy and happy through a structured, systems, attachment based approach – families learn to develop and maintain a healthy, functional family.

When working with families I aim to focus on common ground and shared hopes and goals. This sets the stage for collaboratively working through conflicts so that common goals can be achieved. Focusing on positive family experiences and strengths of the family are also helpful in reconnecting family members. Understanding relationship patterns and encouraging new ways of communicating and interacting often allows families to practice different ways of being with and understanding one another and can often alleviate tension for more pleasurable family experiences.

Family therapy can be an exciting adventure as we listen to each perspective, identify each person's strengths, and develop a new family vision. Counselling may include parenting styles, creative discipline, styles of communication and setting healthy boundaries. All ages may be involved in this process and use of role-playing and toy figures make sessions more fun as we learn from each other. A discussion of family of origin may help each person understand how they attach in relationships and the possibility of a healthier dynamic. Therapy is individualized for each family, to be the most effective.

Trish joyes works specifically with parenting coaching. Parenting coaching assists in overcoming battles between parents and their children. It also assists in understanding behaviours, disabilities and other areas a parent may be struggling with that their children happen to be going through. Parents benefit from better relationships with their children, having calmer homes, and grasping some of their children's behaviours.
