Art therapy and counselling support individuals experiencing depression by gently addressing emotional heaviness, numbness, and withdrawal. Creative and somatic approaches can help reconnect clients to their bodies, inner experiences, and sources of meaning when motivation feels limited. Therapy focuses on building awareness, strengthening coping tools, and cultivating self-compassion, while respecting the pace and capacity of each person.

Every single person has experienced significant disappointments and losses in their life at one point or another. Afterwards, it's normal and even healthy to feel sadness, hurt, anger or numbness. But when these feelings stick around for a prolonged period of time - and are perhaps joined by thoughts of self-criticism, worthlessness, loss of purpose, or despair - it's the right time to seek help and speak with a professional. My approach is centred fully on your needs in this space. It's important to me that you feel that someone cares about you, and is walking with you through the dark times of life. I am kind, non-judgemental, empathetic, and a great listener. Reach out today to begin.

My approach to depression is usually to start with the basics. Is the client getting enough sleep, sunlight, proper nutrition, exercise/movement, social contact? I also like to use CBT, particularly behavioural activation, to see if we can start to implement small behaviours that help lift the client a bit. This is then accompanied by deeper discussions about what the client's experience is. Have they lost a sense of control or meaning in their lives? How can we increase motivation and agency?

We use an eclectic approach to psychotherapy depending on your needs and individual presentation with depression or low mood symptoms. Typically a cognitive behavioural or emotion-focused approach can be very useful for such symptoms. We want to help you explore unhelpful thought patterns that we can reframe and move from all or nothing thinking into a space that is grounded in reality.

Depression is a sadness that accompanies us wherever we go stealing our experience of happiness and joy. Others often do not understand that depression has changed our vision of a colorful, vibrant world to one of varying shades of gray. Depression can make tasks that were once completed without much thought like taking a shower, brushing one's teeth, or even getting out of bed, feel like an overwhelming challenge. Activities and people that we once enjoyed, no longer bring pleasure. "Why can't I just snap out of it?!" I use an integrative approach to therapy providing an empathetic, supportive dynamic to empower you to change your emotional experience of life.

Depression can feel overwhelming, leaving you drained of energy, hope, and motivation. In depression counselling, I offer a safe, compassionate space to share your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Together, we explore the root causes and contributing factors, such as negative thought patterns, unresolved emotional pain, or life transitions, and develop practical strategies to improve mood, increase motivation, and restore balance. Drawing on evidence-based approaches like CBT, EFT, and mindfulness, I help clients challenge self-defeating beliefs, build coping skills, and reconnect with sources of meaning and joy. My goal is to support you in creating lasting, positive change.

Depression can make even the simplest tasks feel heavy, and it often convinces you that you’re alone in it. In our work together, you won’t be met with judgment or pressure - but with compassion, curiosity, and space to make sense of what you’re feeling. Clients often tell me they feel more understood, less isolated, and better able to reconnect with parts of themselves they thought were lost. Therapy can help lift the fog and make room for hope, energy, and purpose again - at a pace that feels right for you.
