Loveland, Colorado is located approximately 40 miles north of Denver, the state’s capitol. Located near Fort Collins, the city contains two colleges, and one community college. There are also five private schools, that are faith-based, located in Loveland. Loveland has been named as one of the more desirable places to live in America. Loveland is fairly conservative in its views towards politics, and has a large Evangelical Christian population. There is a large population of artists that reside in the city, which has brought an art museum and an annual sculpture show in the summertime. Mental Health in Loveland
Harvest Farm is a long-term, faith-based addiction recovery program that places individuals in an agricultural work setting to learn valuable skills. Each resident finds educational, spiritual and emotional support services, in addition to work-based therapeutic services that instill confidence, stability and self-esteem into each resident's life. By providing comprehensive services that address the whole person, Harvest Farm is able to help residents break the cycle of addiction so they can rejoin society and be positive, contributing members of the community. In times of grief and mourning, individuals can benefit greatly from being able to share their feelings with others who have had similar experiences. Hospice of Northern Colorado facilitates a number of groups for those who have lost a loved one. A group specifically for men meets each month to provide emotional support. The Growing through Grief group gives mourners a safe and caring place in which to sort through their feelings and experience support from others in the group. Foothills Gateway is a Loveland area non-profit that is committed to providing support services to the city's mentally and physically disabled residents so they can achieve an increased level of independence. Foothills' programs address many areas of need, from providing transportation to job skills training to life skills classes. The organization also takes small groups of disabled individuals on social outings, so they can interact with one another, as well as feel a sense of community as they interact with other Loveland residents. Together, these programs help participants learn valuable skills for greater self-sufficiency, but also facilitate greater self-esteem and improved self-confidence. Current Initiatives
The Homelessness Prevention Initiative is a grassroots effort to reduce the incidence of homelessness in Loveland and other cities along the northern Front Range. The purpose of the initiative is to stop homelessness before it starts. This is accomplished by providing needy families with grant-based funding to pay for rent, utilities, and other necessities, while they work to improve their financial and employment stability.
