San Jose Behavioral Health is an 80-bed inpatient hospital that is conveniently located in the heart of San Jose and that is easily accessible to individuals and families who reside in Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Alameda counties.
San Jose Behavioral Health provides comprehensive services for adult men and women, ages 18 and above, who have been struggling with a variety of behavioral and mental health challenges. The following are among the more common issues that bring patients to San Jose Behavioral Health:

San Jose Behavioral Health is also prepared to care for men and women whose behavioral and/or mental health issues are accompanied by certain physical health problems including asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructed pulmonary disease (COPD), and diabetes.

This assessment will allow the patient’s treatment team to identify all of the issues that are preventing him or her from experiencing improved quality of life, and will form the basis of the patient’s individualized treatment plan.
Throughout an individual’s time in treatment at San Jose Behavioral Health, he or she will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of treatment professionals. Depending upon the patient’s needs, his or her care may involve collaborations with board-certified psychiatrists, internal medicine physicians, mental health therapists, registered nurses, activity therapists, and other specialists as necessary.
Depending upon the needs that are identified during the initial assessment or that arise during the course of treatment, a patient’s individualized plan may include medication management, individual and group therapy, family therapy and other family-focused meetings, and a variety of experiential therapies.
Group sessions at San Jose Behavioral Health are led by registered mental health clinicians, activity therapists, registered nurses, and other experienced professionals. Examples of groups that a patient may participate in include process, activity, therapy, educational, and didactic groups. Experiential therapeutic activities may include expressive arts therapy, music therapy, and recreation therapy.
Length of stay at San Jose Behavioral Health is determined according to the needs and progress of each patient. The discharge planning process begins the day a patient is admitted for treatment. When the individual has completed his or her time at San Jose, he or she will have a thorough plan that documents his or her progress and identifies the professional referrals and other resources that will best support his continued recovery.
