Anger is a normal emotion. Mild forms of anger may include displeasure, irritation or dislike. When we react to criticism, threat or frustration we may become angry - and usually this is a healthy response. Anger may be a secondary response to feeling sad, lonely or frightened. When anger becomes a full-blown rage our judgment and thinking can become impaired and we are more likely to do and say unreasonable and irrational things. Work with me and we will learn new ways to handle the way you express your anger. Together we will work with your judgment of life events so you will express yourself in a more reasonable way.

Being angry is not bad in itself. It is when we use the energy that anger gives us to hurt others and ourselves that cause problems. Anger is a "red flag" that tells us that something is not right in our lives. If you are experiencing this type of anger, you owe it to yourself and the others you love to find out what you can do to control and even let go of destructive feelings and behaviors and have a much more productive, happier life.

When I work with those who are struggling with anger issues, I believe it is important to address the root of the anger, as well as develop constructive coping skills that you can draw on in the moment. In therapy, we can identify triggers that will help you anticipate and better prepare for your feelings. It is important for you to find healthy outlets for this energy as well as gain awareness into how others are impacted by your reactions.
