My approach to working with clients is in the first counselling session to get a detailed understanding of the symptoms regarding mental health that you identify with, and more specifically the impacts they have on your day to day functioning. Once the symptoms have been established the goal is then to work towards developing skills and strategies to help you manage those symptoms better and to improve your overall functioning.

I am a registered, doctoral level psychologist with 10 years of experience helping people improve their relationships, effectively manage anxiety and stress, improve mood and hope, work through grief and trauma, and start LIVING fully! I specialize in medical/health psychology with special focus on chronic illness, including cancer and palliative care. I am also an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta Medical School. Additionally, I help people improve their sleep and overall health, including quitting smoking and losing weight.

My training as a psychologist has been continuous over the 30 years I have been in practice. Over the years my approach has included many different modalities and I believe it is important to be able to respect and incorporate my clients spiritual and religious values. I have advanced training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Emotional Based therapy and Couples therapy. I have advanced training in trauma work and am one of the leading practitioners in the Edmonton area for the military and veterans.
