"There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in." -- Leonard Cohen

Do you feel stuck or lost? Totally burned out and overwhelmed? Are you worrying or grieving? Wondering where to go from here? These are extraordinarily challenging times.
How Dr. Liwski Will Help

We will work together in a warm, safe environment to figure out what's most important to you, what you want out of life, and what's holding you back. And, most importantly, we'll also figure out how to move forward, so you can start truly LIVING and thriving -- not just existing or surviving. I help people adjust to what is out of their control in life and focus on what they CAN do to live full, meaningful lives.

What Makes Dr. Liwski Different?

Even though we are talking about serious, heavy things, my clients and I often laugh and have fun in our sessions. Clients report feeling respected, heard and cared for, hopeful, and more confident through our work together. I’m known for “keeping it real,” and my clients feel like they can be THEMSELVES and talk freely.
Background and Specializations

I am a registered, doctoral-level psychologist with over 10 years of experience helping people with:

1. Anxiety and Stress
2. Mood disorders
3. Relationship issues
4. Chronic health problems and illnesses, including cancer.
5. Grief and loss

I completed my PhD in Counselling Psychology at Purdue University in the States. I completed a pre-doctoral internship and a postdoctoral residency in the US Veterans Affairs Health Care System, both of which are accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). I am specialized in Medical/Health Psychology and Palliative Care. I worked as a Clinical Psychologist at Cross Cancer’s Department of Psychosocial and Spiritual Resources for nearly 4 years, and I now work part-time at Grey Nuns’ Tertiary Palliative Care Unit. I co-own my private practice, Blue Sky Psychology Group, with my husband in St. Albert in the comfort of our office attached to our home.  I am an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Oncology at the University of Alberta Medical School. I am also adjunct faculty in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Alberta. I am a member of the College of Alberta Psychologists and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta.

Therapeutic Approach

I treat the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. My therapy approaches include mindfulness-and values-based treatment approaches, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, and therapeutic assessment. I have data showing my effectiveness in helping clients:
1. Become more psychologically flexible and able to adapt to life stressors
2. Become more PRESENT in their lives
3. Live more fully in line with their core values
4. Feel more hopeful and less stressed
