Career Counseling is about change. In my practice, I do not use assessments or aptitude tests, as I believe the client is the best source of information. Together we will review your education, interests, work history and the reasons to make a change at this time in your life. Additionally, we will evaluate your level of risk taking, relationships and approaches to pursue a new career path. Careers are integral to the identities of many people, while for others careers are simply means for attaining a happy life. Whether you’re developing your first career or looking to switch careers, I use a combination of assessment batteries and counseling to explore my clients’ goals, preferences, and aptitudes to identify their career path and develop a plan for achieving it.

Exploring strengths/weaknesses, talents and gifts, it makes it easier to maneuver through career choices. We strive to find how and where the client can do their best and how to create that opportunity for themselves. We work together to find necessary testing, training and education so that they have a realistic and achievable goal and plan. Areas of needed improvement are challenged and grown. Personal accountability is strengthen as well as communication skills.

A large component of career choice is how we view ourselves and what we feel we can accomplish. So there's a big element of identity in there. I use Positive Psychology tools to assess the individual's strengths of character and what they view as important tools for success that they already have in their arsenal. From that perspective, we also look at those character strengths that could use a little further strengthening in order to best serve the individual reach their goals. Dreaming and imagining are big pieces of this process, so we also explore those in depth. I encourage realistic dreaming and identify fears and doubts that getting the way of dreaming and accomplishing dreams.
