Anger is a normal human emotion that we all experience. The way we express anger can be what distinguishes us as being healthy or unhealthy partners, parents, co-workers, employees or managers. Anger is generally a surface emotion. Beneath it lies another strong emotion, usually sadness, hurt, fear or inadequacy. In our efforts to protect ourselves from being vulnerable we often act out in anger, which generally takes us farther away from our true goals. In my work with you I will help you understand your anger in a different way and provide you with techniques and coping skills to manage this strong emotion moving you closer to your ultimate goals and strengthening your relationships.

Anger is an emotion that can be very hard to manage and respond to effectively because most people often have a very automatic and impulsive response when they experience anger. Through dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) we can begin to identify emotions and begin to slow down in order to recognize ways to respond to emotions rather than react to them. This will help you feel more in control of your emotions as well as improve your relationships with others because of your ability to manage and respond to anger effectively.

Anger is so much more than just anger. Under Anger there are a lot of deeper feelings that have usually gone repressed or unvalidated. The first step in working with anger is addressing those underlying thoughts and feelings to get to the root of the anger.
