I approach anxiety counselling by helping the client attend to their thoughts and feelings and then let them go -radical acceptance and letting go -not engaging in warfare with the thoughts or feelings and neither allowing them to fuse to the client. Exercises such as mindfulness help clients de-fuse from their anxious thoughts and feelings. We work at this while focusing on the values of the client, what the client wants their life to stand for. It's an exciting and hope-filled journey!
