All people have problems. When the problems are not the consequence of their own doing, such as resulting from abuse, neglect, or tragedy, I work to help these individuals muster their personal resources to better cope and learn recover from the trauma. However, most of the problems that people tend to have are the result of the poor choices they make. This is the frequent consequence of not really knowing who they are. My work as a psychotherapist is to help my clients become more aware of themselves. Lots of times it means facing some irrational and negative beliefs that get played out over and over. I work in a collaborative way that helps increase my clients knowledge of themselves.

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on the connection between your feelings, beliefs and behaviors. Through CBT, I will help you understand how your distorted, unhealthy and/or self-destructive thinking patterns influence how you behavior or respond in certain situations. Once you are able to grasp why you think the way you do and how your thinking affects your behavior, then you can begin to change your mindset so it reflects a healthy, well-adjusted individual.

Traditional psychotherapy focuses on what is wrong with the person, and removing the disorder. However, our work together will take you further.
