I don't do formal career counseling, but enjoy counseling entrepreneurs, business men and women, and performing artists. We would help you develop better assertiveness skills, clarify direction, improve motivation, encourage and guide you in negotiating higher salaries and rates, and cope with job/career crisis and change. I have worked with many people who lost their jobs in the current economic downturn. I also have a specialty working with performing artists to help them find satisfying jobs that allow them to pursue their art, and work with them on stage fright, creative blocks, and balancing relationship/work.

We are given the skills and tools we need to actually complete jobs, but not the training to learn how to navigate the political and ever changing professional world. In counseling with me, you will gain insight into your hopes for the future, as well as the fears that might hold you in what is currently comfortable. Clients plagued by perfectionism, or self-esteem related difficulties can develop insight, increase self-esteem, learn communication skills, and heal from past painful life experiences to learn more about themselves and what career they may see themselves in. Individuals can learn emotion regulation and interpersonal skills to assist in building confidence.

A career is often a major part of one's life, and finding a disconnect between what you do and your values or interests can be destabilizing and painful. I offer in depth discussions on values, interests, work/life balance goals, and lifestyle goals in order to find a career that aligns. All are unique and important components that need to be considered when determining a job switch or addition. It's a big life change and emotional support in therapy throughout the change is incredibly important as well.

I leverage a solution-based approach to clearly outline your primary challenge, work through an exercise to meditate on and define your future state and then work over 8 sessions to achieve it via homework and 1:1 sessions.
