I have a deep respect for children. I work from a basis of compassion and honoring each child for who they are. I offer play and art therapy. These modes are well suited for children as it is through play that children find a way to sort out their experiences and find new ways to orient themselves in their lives. Art can offer a similar approach to play in that they both access the creative intuitive parts of the brain allowing children to heal and grow through their natural modes of being. When I work with young children through child-centred play therapy, I provide in-person sessions right here in Peterborough, Ontario. My office is a safe, welcoming space where children can express themselves freely, explore their feelings, and build important emotional skills through play. Children benefit from my approach because I follow their lead, using toys, drawing, stories, and imaginative activities to help them communicate in ways that feel natural and comfortable. I focus on helping children develop emotional awareness, self-confidence, coping skills, and problem-solving.

We believe in providing a comfortable and safe setting for children to connect with the therapist using hands-on and play modalities. Once we have earned the child's trust, we can then assist the child with developing awareness of how their thoughts and feeling influence their actions. In turn, a little bit of awareness can help a child make significant and lasting changes.

Here at AG Counselling we also offer extensive support for youth and families. Another are of support we offer is parent coaching. The parents are given the opportunity to work with a trained therapist to improve their parenting styles and connect in deeper and more meaningful ways with their child. We provide treatment to children of all age, including somatic and EMDR therapy.

With my many years in education I am able and skilled at working with and relating to children and adolescents. Childhood should be a time for healthy growth and development. For many children and teens, it is a time of great emotional stress. Children react to stress in many ways including withdrawal and acting out behaviors at home and school.
