Faith and spirituality is at the core of who we are. My Christian faith informs who I am and my worldview. If you are a Christian, or person of faith, you can be assured that I will honour and affirm your core beliefs and view of the world. Although I am a Christian, I do not practice prayer-based counselling, instead my approach is mainly clinical, and positve-based.

As a Christian, I greatly appreciate how faith and spirituality play a role in our daily lives. Yet God still calls us to be in the world and to experience many different aspects of human life, even things we think God could fix. Making sense of the differences between what we believe God wants and what we face daily can be distressing and lead to despair and depression. Talking about these losses with someone with a similar faith can be vital as we navigate these challenges. If you want to speak to someone with a similar faith to your own or someone who understands the spiritual journey, I would be glad to be your therapist.

Combining the effort you put forth in counselling with your faith is one of the best ways to see benefits in your life, not just for the results you will feel for your own mental health, but also for your relationship with God. Being a Christian myself, I know how important it can be to apply my faith within the therapeutic experience. Inviting God into this experience helps us see His presence in our life and how we can use His guidance to continue our healing process.

My Masters degrees are from Christian university and my program had a spiritual/pastoral component. This means I am able to talk about spirituality and how important it can be for healing and coping in your life. I am open-minded so I know this faith/belief takes many forms for many different people. We can start with chatting about how faith and spirituality has been for you. We can also not talk about this or make this part of your healing journey. It needs to be about you and comfort level and needs. My approach is spiritual rather than religious in nature. I support people that may feel a traditional religion harmed them and are trying to heal this so it can still be a part life.

To me, the greatest part of being a Christian is being Christ-like, meaning, looking at each and every individual as a worthwhile human being, created for a purpose. When people stop believing in themselves, I like to help them get back on track and feel good about themselves. I’ve successfully worked with disadvantaged kids, the elderly, troubled teens, ashamed individuals, and couples feeling hopeless. I see my clients through the Lord’s eyes, as precious and valuable, and I do my best to help them look at themselves that way. I strongly believe in divine forgiveness and lack of judgment, which allows people in the darkest places to forgive themselves and have hope for a better future.

My Biblical counselling is based on Scripture and supported by my training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. By applying Scriptural wisdom we will work together to "take every thought captive for Christ”. I hold a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I also spent over 20 years involved in various Christian Leadership roles. I do not practice or hold to this religion any longer. In my clinical work, I work with clients who are processing spiritual abuse/trauma and I regularly work with clients who are navigating deconstruction. I believe it is important to clarify, I am affirming and fully accepting of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I consider myself an ally to this community. In my clinical work, I consider it an honour to work with members of this community who have been wounded by the Christian Church.

Many years ago while I asked God for a career path, He hired me to work in His counselling profession. I received my integrated training (God's word/Psychology) at Trinity Western University. Since, I have been privileged to work hand-in-hand with God helping people heal their emotional/spiritual wounds, hurtful and often dehydrated relationships. If God hadn't invited me into His counselling profession, I would not be a counsellor today. The best counselling outcomes are accomplished through God's leading, intervention, empowerment and healing. God guides the sessions with His truth, wisdom and love. I love my job. Daily, I thank God for letting me be part of His great commission.

I am trained in Spiritual Direction as well as Clinical counselling.
