I Sandra Forbes am an educated therapist with over 25 years of experience. I had a tranformative experience in 1999 that brought me to a knowing of God. Out if this knowing came faith and from faith has come a faith centered approach to counselling. Your faith and experience of Christianity forms the foundation for healing in your personal, work and family life. I will offer a listening ear and in a with directness, honesty, support and care will work with you as you move toward a new way of being that will address the issues dear to your heart and help move you toward becoming the person you want to be.

I practice Christian counselling and fully believe that the Word of God contains all that we need. I depend upon His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit within my counselling practice. I believe that true healing and freedom can only be found in surrendering to the Lord in every area of our lives. He has designed us to be in complete dependancy upon in Him and in doing so can we experience real peace and power to overcome. That being said, I do not over-spiritualize everything. I am not looking for a demon behind every problem, nor do I offer trite Sunday School answers. Simply put, the moral and philosophical framework from which I prescribe is Bible based.

My background being Roman Catholic is the approach that I do when doing spiritual counselling. Although I easily can address any religious background that the person that comes for therapy might have. At the end of the day is about listening to the client needs and in the process also having the client explain their spiritual background to address it properly.

Sarah provides biblically based Christian counselling for those whose faith is integral to their life view, their relationships, their decisions and their values. I hold a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I also spent over 20 years involved in various Christian Leadership roles. I do not practice or hold to this religion any longer. In my clinical work, I work with clients who are processing spiritual abuse/trauma and I regularly work with clients who are navigating deconstruction. I believe it is important to clarify, I am affirming and fully accepting of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I consider myself an ally to this community. In my clinical work, I consider it an honour to work with members of this community who have been wounded by the Christian Church.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolves from that. If one honors God's natural laws of reaping and sowing around the decisions one makes, one is indeed living Scripture to its fullest. Through the process of verbalizing these faith-based doubts, our experience is normalized and we can gain acceptance of our position today. From this acceptance comes possibilities for opening up to new understandings. Additionally, the ability to call upon the belief of something or someone greater than ourselves can offer us immeasurable strength to proactively take care of life's numerous challenges, eventually allowing us to relinquish the outcome to this higher power.
