Our faith is an integral part of who we are and it can influence all aspects of our life. Situations and circumstances can occur that can shake our hope and question our faith. As a Christian psychotherapist, I work with both people of faith and people with no religious orientation. It is my goal to respect and honor each person and the journey they are on.

The Christian faith offers a great many resources which are helpful in facing the challenges of life, the challenges of relationship. Faith, at its best, is designed to help negotiate life as it really is. It is a source of courage and helps us to identify what really matters. The Christian faith holds love at its centre and guides us to act towards our selves and towards others out of love. It helps us keep our egos in check, knowing there is something (God) greater than our limited understanding with is at work in our lives. I enter into discussions with clients about these matters, urging them to draw upon their own faith. I do not quote the Bible to direct them.

A Biblical base simply means that the therapist believes that all human beings were created in the image of God, intended for relationship and designed with the capacity for growth and change. Jesus said "I came to heal the broken hearted" and at some point, most of us would love to sink into that compassionate offer. For some, having counselling services provided by a Christian therapist is important and being able to connect through our faith is vital. My faith and spirituality directs my life, is at the core of who I am, and how I respond in various situations. My deep faith and understanding of the gospel and the message of grace is integrated throughout all of my counselling services.

As a Christian therapist, I feel it always important to work with my client’s faith and value system. Since I am counseling as a person with Christian beliefs, it is not my plan to impose my values on my clients, but to help them in their journey. Since I am a Christian, my frame of reference would be led by the spirit of God. It is my hope to guide individuals towards a stronger relationship with God and with others. It is in this relationship that I believe people will reach their goals and achieve the significance that God has always meant for us to enjoy.

We were created for relationship with God. In turn, our relationship with God affects our relationships with other people and our personal well being.
