ABOUT DR. PECK


As a scientist-practitioner, Dr. Peck provides evidence-based treatments routed in science in an artful and compassionate way that honors each person as their own individual. This unique approach allows clients to benefit from proven, cutting-edge treatments while still allowing for the deeper benefits of therapy such as self-reflection, growth, and personal evolution. Through her training at scientific institutions, Dr. Peck remains faithful to a scientific model of practice, choosing models of treatment proven to work. These models are then tailored to the unique needs of each individual client and delivered with a spirit of compassion and closeness, fostering an opportunity for deep growth and reflection.
 
Dr. Peck completed her Ph.D in clinical psychology with an emphasis in health psychology, where her coursework and clinical experiences centered around mind-body medicine such as mindfulness training and biofeedback (Dr. Peck is a certified biofeedback therapist). Dr. Knatz Peck completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at UCSD under the departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry.

Dr. Peck is a clinical psychologist who specializes in evidence-based treatments for:
 
  • eating disorders and weight issues (including obesity and weight management)
  • children and adolescent issues
  • anxiety and stress disorders
  • mood disorders
  • teen coping skills training
  • cognitive behavioral therapy
  • dialectical behavior therapy

Dr. Peck completed her pre-doctoral and post-doctoral training at UCSD under the departments of Pediatrics and Psychiatry. During her 2-year fellowship, she received specialty training in evidence-based behavioral treatments with a particular emphasis on treating eating and weight issues and anxiety and stress disorders. Dr. Peck developed highly specialized expertise in evidence-based psychological treatments currently regarded as the most effective, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and family-based treatment.

 PHILOSOPHY


Dr. Peck holds a deep passion for her work and places high value on the opportunity to connect with her clients in meaningful ways by practicing radical genuineness and a commitment to measurable change. Outside of her professional life, her favorite activities include surfing, yoga, hiking, and writing. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Peck conducts clinical research, including professional presentations and writing, and directs an intensive family therapy program at the UCSD Eating Disorders Treatment and Research Center.
