This journey we call “life” can be difficult. Sometimes we need an understanding, compassionate, and non-judgemental person to listen, support us, and help us through. Are you struggling with something? Maybe a life transition? Maybe something in your family dynamic isn’t working? Or maybe you are having trouble with your relationship with your partner? Perhaps parenting has become difficult and you need some assistance? Perhaps your child needs some support?
I can help!
When we feel disharmony in our lives or a sense of disconnect with the ones we love, this can mean that we have lost touch with our authentic self. There are so many ways we can lose touch with our authentic self. I can help you identify that breach, and I can help you to re-establish that connection with your authentic self, and re-establish that connection with your loved ones in a gentle and supportive way.
I have experience working with many different issues. My specialties are:
Childhood trauma/family of origin issuesCodependent behavior
Emotional dysregulation
When it comes to therapy and working with a client, I believe the best results occur when the client and the therapist can collaborate together to find the right direction. I believe that trust and compassion are cornerstones to a healthy therapeutic relationship. When all of these elements are in place, a client has the power to affect positive change in their life in a multitude of ways!
My approach is eclectic and I use a number of different styles and focuses to achieve the best outcome for the client. When I work with a client, my goal is to inform and to work together as a team every step of the way. I have experience drawing from these models to better assist my clients:
Person-centered therapySomatic sensations/mind-body connection
Gestalt therapy
Internal Family Systems
Object relations/attachment focus
Jungian/archetypal perspective
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Pia Mellody/Codependence/Family of Origin
In addition, I like to check in with my clients to see if they have a spiritual connection that is meaningful to them. If so, I like to invite the client to incorporate their spiritual truth into their healing journey if that feels appropriate for them. This is for the client to decide and to dictate how and when that happens.
I received my Master’s degree from Santa Clara University in Counseling Psychology. I have worked in school-based counseling, a clinic that gave support for bereavement, and a clinic that gives support for addiction, anxiety, and depression. Currently, at Saratoga Therapy, I work under the training and supervision of Lena Axelsson, PsyD., who is a somatic relational therapist with training in Relational Gestalt Therapy, SE (Somatic Experiencing), NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model) and NA Touch (NeuroAffective Touch).
