About Prince George, B.C.

Prince George is located in the interior of British Columbia and is the province’s largest Northern city.  Due to its location at the points of the Fraser and Nechako Rivers and the cross points for the two major highways in the interior, Prince George plays an important role in the economic and cultural identity of the province.  Prince George has its history in the fur trading business that was established in 1807 and thus named after King George III.  Although the area continued to develop through the gold rush of the late 1800’s it was not until CN Rail extended their line through this area, that Prince George truly began to flourish.
