Our faith is an integral part of who we are and it can influence all aspects of our life. Situations and circumstances can occur that can shake our hope and question our faith. As a Christian psychotherapist, I work with both people of faith and people with no religious orientation. It is my goal to respect and honor each person and the journey they are on.

My approach to counselling is attachment based and trauma informed. I have extensive training in emotionally focused therapy, the gold standard in couple's therapy, which I apply in my work with couples, families, and individuals. Emotionally focused therapy closely parallels the Christian faith in how it understands human personhood and connection. I am trained through a biblical lens and comfortable including faith in the work we will do. During our sessions I take an engaged and active role in the process, focused on helping you to identify the areas where you may be stuck and working with you to make changes aligned with your goals and faith.

For many of us faith is not just important it is critical. As a professional therapist, I work with all kinds of faiths, with respect and honor. However I do identify and enjoy working within the context of Christianity. To me, the greatest part of being a Christian is being Christ-like, meaning, looking at each and every individual as a worthwhile human being, created for a purpose. When people stop believing in themselves, I like to help them get back on track and feel good about themselves. I’ve successfully worked with disadvantaged kids, the elderly, troubled teens, ashamed individuals, and couples feeling hopeless. I see my clients through the Lord’s eyes, as precious and valuable, and I do my best to help them look at themselves that way. I strongly believe in divine forgiveness and lack of judgment, which allows people in the darkest places to forgive themselves and have hope for a better future.

Due to various challenges that I experienced as a child I often felt I had the weight of the world on my shoulder. Therefore as a teenager and most of my childhood I suffered with depression. My experiences however also revealed my life’s purpose and incited the desire to support others ex-periencing their own challenges. It was only through the support of key people in my life and the grace of God that changed my outlook on life. I provide psychotherapy, counselling, and mental health services that are grounded in my academic and experiential training. However, the foundation of my work is grounded in my faith. I firmly believe in a grand power/God that helps human beings to work for the healthy betterment of theirselves and of others. My greatest joy over 30 years has been helping people of faith, both Jews and Christians, grow in their relationship with God while negotiating the painful experiences and choices of life. The Christian faith offers a great many resources which are helpful in facing the challenges of life, the challenges of relationship. Faith, at its best, is designed to help negotiate life as it really is. It is a source of courage and helps us to identify what really matters. The Christian faith holds love at its centre and guides us to act towards our selves and towards others out of love. It helps us keep our egos in check, knowing there is something (God) greater than our limited understanding with is at work in our lives. I enter into discussions with clients about these matters, urging them to draw upon their own faith. I do not quote the Bible to direct them.
