Being in a couple and sharing one's life with another person can be one of life's greatest joys and sometimes one's most difficult struggles. Being able to communicate to your partner in a way that they can hear your request without defensiveness, can be a challenge I would like to help with. We are all effected by our family of origin, which has shaped our world view and ablility to communicate. I have worked with couples from all walks of life and enjoy bridging their communication gaps. I can help you too!

Couples come to therapy when they have exhausted their own capacity to solve their issues. Often there is much history and bad feelings on both parts. Couples therapy can help each person see in action the patterns that keep them relating in the same frustrating ways. The therapist (an outsider) provides a function for the couple that they do not have and can over time make their own. My preference is to provide individual therapy to a member of the couple since each person must be able to see the reality of their own contribution to the problems in the relationship and also see their partner for who they are. This process of seeing themselves and their partner clearly is fundamental.
