If you are experiencing situational or chronic depression, you need help. In a safe environment, we will explore the experiences and thought processes that lead to depression. Then, by reframing, I will help you keep what is true and discard the incorrect beliefs that caused your depression in the first place. I will encourage self-care as a way to manage and improve your mood including walking, journal writing and developing a strong social network. I will also explain the role of the brain in depression and discuss how medication can help.

Depression comes from emotions that are stuck in the system and haven't been given the freedom to move; often anger and sadness. The key to working with depression is to get to the root of the stuck energy and emotions and give them the space to be felt and expressed. Depression is a signal that something in your life is not functioning in a way that supports your well-being. Depression or overwhelming feelings of sadness and despair are often clues that something deeper is going on within your psyche and within your body. More often than not there is a reason for your depression, even when you are not consciously aware of it. Your body doesn't speak in words, the way your mind does, rather it communicates with you through your feelings, sensations, and emotions. Often ignoring your emotions can intensify your feelings of depression.

In this model we learn many tools and interventions to release the grip of the struggle from our internal and external experiences, and start moving towards the things that really matter, give your life meaning value.

Grey Matters International, Inc. and the work of Kevin J. Fleming, Ph.D. handles depression and other emotional disorders in a very unique way. Most of therapy or counseling processes utilize validation, unconditional positive regard, and reframing as common techniques to get someone to heal from their depression. Though this can be helpful, it rarely fixes the core problem behind it and for tough cases we then refer them usually to a psychiatrist for medication which can have tons of side effects.
