I can adapt my style to help you learn and practice new ways to empathize with your partner’s perspective, communicate effectively, resolve conflict and enjoy healthy connected-ness. I use tools such as the Myers-Briggs temperament styles, IMAGO techniques, and the Prepare-Enrich assessment survey.

Couples counseling (whether with romantic partners, marital partners, friends or colleagues) is an effective means of improving your life, your partner's life, and the condition of those living with and around you. My approach is based on a blend of writers such as Drs. John & Julie Gottman, Ester Perel, Terry Real, etc..and theories such as Imago and Emotionally Focused Therapy. I do not think any one theory or method works for all clients. We will work together to determine what works best for you and your partner in order to facilitate growth and to enable you to have greater understanding, compassion, and improved communication in your own home.

Couples usually go to therapy when they are feeling distressed. Maybe they are also feeling isolated from each other, distrustful, or like they just can't communicate with each other. I like to start by getting to know what is is like for each of you to be in your relationship and how each of you understands how your relationship ended up in this distressed place. When I work with couples, I use a model called Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFT). EFT provides me with a map, a way to help couples out of their stuck places.
