If you have had a loss in your life, it may seem like no one understands what you are going through. Those that care about you may not know what to say or what you need in your time of grief. I can help you with the grief process in a gentle and loving way to help you honor and remember your loved one. I offer a safe, warm environment where you can be relaxed in talking out your loss.

Working through grief and loss can be confusing and feel isolating. With my approach, I can walk alongside you through the different stages of grief, help you identify the unique ways you are currently grieving now and will need to grieve in the future, and bring you back to a place of resolution regarding your loss. My clients benefit from grief and loss therapy from me due to my extensive personal experience with multiple, serial deaths I've experienced, which affords me unique insight and compassion toward others who are experiencing loss. Together with my extensive clinical training and 16 years experience have effectively helped my clients cope with their losses.

Losing someone you have loved is very painful. Many difficult emotions may arise such as fear, anger, shock, uncertainty about your own mortality, guilt, etc. It is normal and natural to go through a period of time where you feel the loss at a very deep level. It is important to let yourself feel the loss instead of avoiding or coping with it in unhealthy ways. It is also important to know that these feelings will lessen, and you may find that your loss may turn into an opportunity for deep discovery. Everyone is different; therefore, everyone’s length of time and style of grieving is different. But, there is no shame in asking for support if you feel your grief is causing a significant chan

Most often, I find that individuals may seek out counseling for a variety of reasons only to gradually discover that what is at the core of the problem is a failure to have grieved primary as well as secondary losses that have been experienced. I use a variety of therapeutic activities, such as games, handouts and worksheets to help a client work through his/her losses to once again find healing, peace and joy in and from life.

While I work with more traditional grief and loss, many of my clients have grief over what they didn't get during childhood. We explore the feelings around not knowing you were autistic or ADHD, and all of the lost time and relationships that have come from that. Grief isn't only about death- we also grieve the parenting we needed but didn't get, past relationships, past friendships, and more. We will work together to find ways to recognize and honor those losses, in a way that is meaningful for you and helps you get the closure you need. And grief is never a comparison to someone else- all loss is painful, and together we can help you find peace.

Grieving can be experienced in the death of someone you loved, or in a number of other areas including job transitions, moving, separation or break ups, having children, children leaving the home, or other ways as well. Major changes or transitions can be very difficult to cope with. I help people adjust to the different grieving stages, better understand them, and learn ways to heal from loss. Using the Kubler-Ross model as well as utilizing a person's supports and strengths, I will guide you through this journey to a place of acceptance and peace.
