While we all live with some degree of anxiety and stress in our lives, there are times when the anxiety and stress levels overwhelm us and our usual ways of coping no longer work. When overwhelmed by stress an anxiety, it is not uncommon to shut down, engage in poor decision making or partake in destructive escape routes. I help clients gain perspective, problem-solve, and find ways to increase support during times of extreme stress, anxiety, loss and disappointment. Clients with whom I work with on issues of anxiety and stress report feeling more hopeful, more capable, reassured and better able to tackle life's challenges and disappointments.

My philosophy of therapy and change is that change comes from within. As a therapist, I ask a great deal in asking an individual to change, as change is an incredibly difficult task for everyone. The journey of change requires both the client and myself to work collaboratively throughout this journey. It is for this reason that the rapport between the client and myself is critical. I aim to provide all my clients with the space to explore their underlying feelings, thoughts, and behaviors so that they can engage in change.

Athletes and non-athletes experience stress. It is a simple result of being human in an all-too complicated world. Although the circumstances are usually very different for the anxious parent, self-conscious adolescent, young professional lacking confidence, worried student, or the athlete concerned about under-performing, they all share the common experience of anxiety and stress. I use the pragmatic strategies of sport and optimal performance psychology to help individuals of all ages to better manage their stress and to transform their fears into a source of personal strength.
