My approach to career counselling aims to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their careers, maximize their potential, and achieve personal and professional success and satisfaction. It involves exploring and evaluating factors such as interests, skills, values, personality traits, and life circumstances to help clients align their career goals with their personal and professional aspirations. It is a collaborative and client-centered process that considers the individual's unique circumstances, preferences, and goals for their future.

My work as a career counsellor goes again to the root of issues with work. There is a soul level to the work we choose, a vocational element to it ("vocation" meaning a calling from the work—where the work actually chooses you rather than you choosing the work.) Matt has worked as a career development supporting teens and adults for many years. He can support you in figuring out where you’re headed, what motivates you, and how to make choices that fit your strengths, gifts, values, interests, and stage of life. It’s not about picking a path: it’s about understanding yourself better, exploring real options, and planning and moving towards the next steps in your career journey in a way that feels both achievable and meaningful.

My approach to helping clients in the area of work and career often relates to interpersonal problems in employment settings, difficulties managing work-life balance, and questions surrounding changing careers. Often clients come in with concerns around how to make changes to their employment situation, and they have various anxieties surrounding the risk that comes with making these life changes. In treatment, I help clients address their anxieties and fears, and we work together to seek solutions.

I can provide strategies for you to find new or different employment successfully. I'm not only a registered psychotherapist but I'm also a success coach. I have a PhD in leadership and policy and a background in business. I've had many jobs and careers from modelling, personal training, to a Bell operator and a Purolator driver. I've been in retail sales, and sold photocopies, PR, and software. I've been a teacher of primary/junior students, and professor in sales, and a professor in graduate education. I have owned a restaurant, and a tutoring company. I am sure I have missed something! I'm reinventing myself once again looking to be an author! Let me help you find your way!
