Being both a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist and an Ordained Minister of 12 years, I respectfully integrate both psychological and Christian elements in my counselling. You will gain a sense of balance between Biblical and psychological perspectives as you work through your tough situations. As a Christian therapist, I feel it always important to work with my client’s faith and value system. Since I am counseling as a person with Christian beliefs, it is not my plan to impose my values on my clients, but to help them in their journey. Since I am a Christian, my frame of reference would be led by the spirit of God. It is my hope to guide individuals towards a stronger relationship with God and with others. It is in this relationship that I believe people will reach their goals and achieve the significance that God has always meant for us to enjoy.

Faith and spirituality is at the core of who we are. My Christian faith informs who I am and my worldview. Although I am a Christian, I do not practice prayer-based counselling, instead my approach is mainly clinical, and positve-based.

This is not about doctrine but about moving beyond propositional belief into participatory knowing — a lived alignment with love, presence, and meaning. I help clients heal from spiritual injury, alienation, or disconnection from the Sacred, restoring right relationship with self, others, and the divine through a process grounded in agape and transformation.

I would describe myself as a Christian who does counselling. The reason why I have found this description helpful is that is not based on the fact that I have grown up in church, and have been a Christian since I was 11 years old. Instead, I find this description is helpful as clients who are Christians have sought me out, as they know I will understand many church based difficulties of which they have experienced. I have seen pastor’s wives, church leadership, and their members because of this. However, there also is the understanding that those who are not Christian also are welcome to see me, that I am readily available to listen to them, too.

Due to various challenges that I experienced as a child I often felt I had the weight of the world on my shoulder. Therefore as a teenager and most of my childhood I suffered with depression. My experiences however also revealed my life’s purpose and incited the desire to support others ex-periencing their own challenges. I hold a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I also spent over 20 years involved in various Christian Leadership roles. I do not practice or hold to this religion any longer. In my clinical work, I work with clients who are processing spiritual abuse/trauma and I regularly work with clients who are navigating deconstruction. I understand the importance of faith in the healing process; whether it is dealing with an illness, overcoming abuse, the loss of a sense of identity, or broken relationships. My approach meets my clients where their faith is.
