With my background of 30 years of Christian counselling to those who seek it, I draw on wisdom and truth from the scriptures to create contemporary perspectives on my client's present circumstances. God-honouring principles do create positive change for individuals willing to apply them. I have developed an approach I call "Pneumatherapy", (the therapy of the Holy Spirit), which helps the client to attentively and prayerfully listen to the Holy Spirit for insight and direction. As a Christian I believe that deep inner transformation can occur as I use my counselling skills in partnership with God's healing grace in the lives of my clients. For those who embrace other faiths or no faith position I am careful and sensitive to respect their spiritual choices. For those who desire a Christian perspective on their emotional and spiritual needs I am very comfortable to include this as an integral part of therapy.

I am a licensed practitioner with the Church of Religious Science which is a Christian based, non denominational, church. The foundational doctrines in this church follow the truth of Jesus' teachings. A fundamental teaching of this perspective is that God is love, and as such, Jesus is the representation of God, or love, in human form. We all have the potential to be "Christ conscious" and just as Jesus said, we all are capable of doing even greater works than he (John 14:12). My work as a Christian counsellor is not as adherent to a particular religious dogma as most, but rather broader, less dogmatic, and more firmly seated in the actual teachings of Jesus.

Christian counseling combines therapeutic techniques with Christian principles and values. Our Christian therapist provides a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore their faith and its impact on their mental and emotional well-being. Christian counseling can help individuals find comfort, guidance and strength through their relationship with God. A holistic approach is used that addresses psychological, emotional, and spiritual concerns. Support, encouragement, and biblical wisdom will be provided to help individuals navigate life's challenges and find healing and growth.

I provide psychotherapy, counselling, and mental health services that are grounded in my academic and experiential training. However, the foundation of my work is grounded in my faith. I firmly believe in a grand power/God that helps human beings to work for the healthy betterment of theirselves and of others. The main source of energy that drives us towards this betterment is love, compassion, and understanding. In faith based counselling and psychotherapy, I will help you to explore your own faith and spirituality and use these in supporting the resolution of resentful feelings, trauma, and other harmful experiences.

For those committed to Christ and to Christian living, it's sometimes important to do counselling with someone who shares your values. I have spent my life in the study and teaching of Scriptures, and am aware of the vast variety and riches available to us in our different Christian traditions. I welcome those from any of these traditions. Together we can use counselling insights and approaches, working within the framework of traditional and emerging Christian thought and practice, as we work on understanding and resolving the various issues and concerns you bring into counselling.

My Masters degrees are from Christian university and my program had a spiritual/pastoral component. This means I am able to talk about spirituality and how important it can be for healing and coping in your life. I am open-minded so I know this faith/belief takes many forms for many different people. We can start with chatting about how faith and spirituality has been for you. We can also not talk about this or make this part of your healing journey. It needs to be about you and comfort level and needs. My approach is spiritual rather than religious in nature. I support people that may feel a traditional religion harmed them and are trying to heal this so it can still be a part life.

For followers of the Christian faith, meeting with a Christain counsellor can be quite helpful and affirming. Through a shared understanding of Christian principles, teaching and beliefs, situations and people can be assessed and solution identified that are grounded in Christian traditions such as faith, forgiveness and grace, family and parenting, suffering and recovery. Your faith and spiritual journey can also be enhanced as you strive to overcome life's challenges, push away from troubling thoughts, feelings and behaviours and grow into the person/couple/family God wants you to be.
