We were created for relationship with God. In turn, our relationship with God affects our relationships with other people and our personal well being. It is through a biblical foundation that I counsel with warmth and professionalism. Often, clients are comforted in knowing that their therapist comes to the healing process with a Christian worldview, and that their therapy is based on biblical principles.

As a Bible following Christian who was raised in a Christian family, I have my foundations based on the Biblical teachings. The world is becoming a difficult place to live and understand by the day, let alone raising children (if you do!). Being Christians does not stop you from having those doubts or thoughts that could be frowned upon in a church or family set up, if you have them- IT IS OK, therapy with me can be a safe space to process them and even finding some answers together without judgement. For many of us faith is not just important it is critical. As a professional therapist, I work with all kinds of faiths, with respect and honor. However I do identify and enjoy working within the context of Christianity. Over the last twenty-five years I have worked closely with believers, congregations, denominations and their leaders through individual, marriage and family issues but also issues of faith. Some times we struggle with our faith and it becomes more of a stumbling block. Other times it becomes our anchor. Having Christ as the center of history and ones life allows for resources that significantly bolster therapy.

Christian counselling focuses on a few main principles. It focuses on the care of the whole person, body, soul and spirit, as it is also sometimes named "soul-care", and maintains the values taught in the Bible. The aim of Christian counselling is to help people regain a sense of hope for their life that is found in Jesus Christ. Christian counselling believes that at the core of what they do is to help others achieve a better understanding of themselves and God which is rooted in the Holy Spirit's conviction. Christian counsellors seek to make people aware of the sin in their lives that has caused them suffering but also come to know the immense worth and value they have as a person to God

Christian Psychotherapy is an integration of Biblical truth, Christian values, and psychotherapeutic methods to promote mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It recognizes the interconnectedness of faith and mental health, and seeks to address the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. By combining evidence-based therapeutic techniques with Christian principles and values, Christian Psychotherapy provides a holistic approach to healing and growth, helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationship with God, and find hope, peace, and transformation in their lives.

The counselling I do as a christian caring for christian clients includes incorporating a christian-world view. I will go where the client wants to go, whether that means exploring their understanding of God as Creator, Father, Lord and/or Saviour, or their understanding of spiritual practices and how this is improving or impeding their walk, as individuals or as part of community of faith. It might also mean talking about guilt, shame or their ambivalence with today's Church. I love these conversations and understand that we have a huge resources when we consider God's truth in relationships, work or where ever you find yourself stuck.

I hold a Masters of Divinity in Clinical Counselling from Tyndale University. I also spent over 20 years involved in various Christian Leadership roles. I do not practice or hold to this religion any longer. In my clinical work, I work with clients who are processing spiritual abuse/trauma and I regularly work with clients who are navigating deconstruction. I believe it is important to clarify, I am affirming and fully accepting of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I consider myself an ally to this community. In my clinical work, I consider it an honour to work with members of this community who have been wounded by the Christian Church.

In all areas of my Counselling and Coaching services, I promote a growth and learning mindset. Although my approach is non-denominational, eclectic and inclusive, my training and focus includes an MA degree in Spirituality from a Christian University and I live my life based upon Christian teachings. I support my clients so they may deal with difficult circumstances while connecting with their faith.

Due to various challenges that I experienced as a child I often felt I had the weight of the world on my shoulder. Therefore as a teenager and most of my childhood I suffered with depression. My experiences however also revealed my life’s purpose and incited the desire to support others ex-periencing their own challenges. It was only through the support of key people in my life and the grace of God that changed my outlook on life. As a Christian, I greatly appreciate how faith and spirituality play a role in our daily lives. Yet God still calls us to be in the world and to experience many different aspects of human life, even things we think God could fix. Making sense of the differences between what we believe God wants and what we face daily can be distressing and lead to despair and depression. Talking about these losses with someone with a similar faith can be vital as we navigate these challenges. As a Christian therapist, I feel it always important to work with my client’s faith and value system. Since I am counseling as a person with Christian beliefs, it is not my plan to impose my values on my clients, but to help them in their journey. Since I am a Christian, my frame of reference would be led by the spirit of God. It is my hope to guide individuals towards a stronger relationship with God and with others. It is in this relationship that I believe people will reach their goals and achieve the significance that God has always meant for us to enjoy.

I provide psychotherapy, counselling, and mental health services that are grounded in my academic and experiential training. However, the foundation of my work is grounded in my faith. I firmly believe in a grand power/God that helps human beings to work for the healthy betterment of theirselves and of others. The main source of energy that drives us towards this betterment is love, compassion, and understanding. In faith based counselling and psychotherapy, I will help you to explore your own faith and spirituality and use these in supporting the resolution of resentful feelings, trauma, and other harmful experiences.

Trained at McMaster Divinity College and a former Pastor with a wide range of experience with most of the denominations, your beliefs are respected and you can be at ease knowing that you do not have to conform or comply to the beliefs of another. The problems one encounters can be examined through a theological lens for those holding Christian, Jewish, Biblical world views. A Biblical reflection can be like a breath of fresh air.

I would describe myself as a Christian who does counselling. The reason why I have found this description helpful is that is not based on the fact that I have grown up in church, and have been a Christian since I was 11 years old. Instead, I find this description is helpful as clients who are Christians have sought me out, as they know I will understand many church based difficulties of which they have experienced. I have seen pastor’s wives, church leadership, and their members because of this. However, there also is the understanding that those who are not Christian also are welcome to see me, that I am readily available to listen to them, too.

They often find it more comforting and safe to share their struggles with a professional who can understand where they are coming from spiritually. Jesus said "I came to heal the broken hearted" and at some point, most of us would love to sink into that compassionate offer. Biblical based counselling does not infer any judgement or inflexibility within the therapeutic process.

I help those who are struggling with their faith, as well as those who are not struggling with their faith, but simply want counselling in the framework of their Christian background, I take a Christian approach to counselling my clients through the tough times. I understand the importance of faith in the healing process; whether it is dealing with an illness, overcoming abuse, the loss of a sense of identity, or broken relationships. My approach meets my clients where their faith is.

While most Christian Counselors pride themselves on how many Scriptural passages they can recite and how many links they can make from the Bible to psychological disorders, the Christian-centric work of Grey Matters International, Inc.is grounded in one principle: truth. For us, the work is more about truth and transparency of Christ's message and working on the natural laws of accountability and decision making that evolves from that. If one honors God's natural laws of reaping and sowing around the decisions one makes, one is indeed living Scripture to its fullest.
