None of us operate as 'island's' and it's been said that in any relationship with more than one person in it can expect dysfunction! Family Systems Theory was what made feel like I'd love to be a therapist. Working with families to support understanding and teach skills that will bring the opportunity for more peace and joy in relationships is very rewarding.

We may need to work through helping you & your family members adjust to difficulties or transitions you are going through or have gone through. Each family member's opinions (including children) will be valued. All family members will be validated & each person will be given a voice & time to share their thoughts on what is & isn't working in family life. I have years of experience helping clients with: parent-child conflict; parent disagreements; blended family issues; coping with a sick or mentally ill family member; dealing with trauma and loss; grief. We will work to achieve compromise.

I have worked with adult children and their parents, to create a safe space for them to work on the different perspectives on issues. Family Therapy gives them a respectful way to listen to the other party's voices instead of insisting on their own voice to be heard. It may need to start with better communication skills, active listening, understanding the cycle or the pattern which might have existed for a long long time. My family therapy provides coaching, support, guidance and empowerment to all members. I coach parents to become better "parenting coaches", and children to become better "game of life" payers. I help each member tap into his/her "life tools" and empower personal abilities, flexibility, and self-control. It is not "power over" another person, but "power shared." It is about becoming the right person. When you focus on your own behaviors and the way you treat the person you love, it will not be long before things begin to change. we can make ourselves do what we need to do in order to become the kind of person who is worthy of being in a healthy family relationship.
