Timmins, Ontario is a lovely place to call home. The history here is rich, and it shows in the many historic locations. The city itself was constructed on  the oldest geological formation on Earth, known as the Precambrian Shield. Many visitors love to check out the Cedar Meadows Resort and Spa. The choice to continue your relationship after confirmed infidelity is acutely strenuous, and without Christian marriage counselling, the motivation to reunite may dwindle with added disputes. Though you once may have possessed the strength to progress through minor tribulations, there is now a distinct lack of hope that with a couples therapist, can be recaptured and exemplified. This facility stretches over 275 acres with 49 guest rooms and suites. All around, the natural beauty of northern Ontario creates a relaxing backdrop for days spent living it up at the spa. The Cedar Meadows wilderness park offers another kind of entertainment with tours available in July and August. The Shania Twain Centre offers visitors a chance to get an up close and personal glimpse into the public and private life of one of the most famous female musicians in the world.1 The center was constructed to commemorate Shania Twain’s musical contributions as well as her history in Timmins.

Marriage and Couples Mental Health in Timmins

Of the 42,455 people living in Timmins, many of the households are blended families.2 In fact, one in 10 children in Canada live with step-families.3 While most parents and step-parents provide loving and supportive homes for their children, it's not unusual for a child to have problems adjusting to the new living arrangement and family members. Some children experience problems with social relations, academic achievement, health and coping with day-to-day problems. Fortunately, many organizations in Timmins help children deal with these difficulties and more.

One organization, Hands: The Family Help Network, provides counseling services as well as school-based and home-based mental health services. The home-based services are particularly useful for children and families experiencing problems due to the home environment. The staff of Hands teaches through role-playing, coaching, modeling and counseling with the entire family. The goal of these services is to improve family dynamics for all involved. Families interested in their counseling or home-based services can call 705-476-2293.4

Family Services and Assistance Programs

Parents who want to help their children cope with mental health problems that affect the family can find help through North Eastern Ontario Family and Children's Services. The family preservation program provides in-home counseling and support for families at risk of breakdown. Parents can learn valuable techniques for parenting, discipline, establishing routines and household management. Children get help from behavior management training as well as counseling. The intake worker can be contacted at 705-360-7100 for more information.5
