Hi! Curious about therapy or counselling? Tired of feeling stuck or having feelings of loneliness & hopelessness? Maybe you are looking to take charge of your life, find peace, happiness or are wondering why you keep doing things that aren’t bringing you closer to your goal.

My name is Amber, I am a Kuu-us Nuu Chah Nulth woman who is passionate about healing, decolonizing and helping people find their way to contentment. I understand what inter-generational trauma is and how is affects our communities, families and individual well being. I was drawn to the helping field due to my own auto-immune struggles and after 15+ years of working in Indigenous child welfare I returned to school to complete my MSW in Indigenous Trauma & Resiliency. Now I spend my days doing the work I know I was meant to do.

In my practice, we start where you are most comfortable. You do not necessarily need to retell your story, especially if it feels re-traumatizing. Healing can be accessed through learning about trauma, what it is, how it shows up in the body, mind and relationships as well as connecting to your inner self through guided exercises (drawing, writing, etc).

If you are ready to take the next step, I offer a free 20minute session - intended to determine if we are the right fit for each other.

I work with individuals from ages 6 yrs and up. At this time I do not offer couples or family therapy. I use body based techniques as well as solution focused therapy. I believe that people have the capacity to change and to heal. I understand the effects of inter generational trauma as well as acute traumatic events.
Much of the healing is done because of the connection or quality of the therapeutic relationship. Therefor a quick chat or in person meeting at my office can help you decide if counselling with me, something you want to pursue.

I can’t wait to meet you! (Said with warmth and excitement)
As I am registered with the BCCSW, I can only offer services to those within BC. I  offer in-person, phone and video appointments. Appointments are 50minutes in length. Check out my website at www.huumiistuhmapt.Wordpress.com
My office is located in the Alberni Valley on the Pacific Rim Highway. If you are unable to get to my office, I do offer video and phone appointments as well.
