My Therapeutic Approach

Do you feel like you run into walls in your life and you don't know why? If we can look closely at our actions and the roots of our behaviour, we often find that we are unconsciously living someone else's life, with someone else's priorities.

Jungian psychotherapeutic counselling provides an exceptional tool for all of us to deepen our capacity to live and to love more completely and to more effectively chart our personal growth and to achieve our personal goals. I want to help you solve these issues that cause so much trouble, sabotaging your creativity and your spirituality.

Just as a carpenter needs different tools to solve different kinds of problems, there is no one psychological solution for everyone. Rather than immediately diagnose you, I strive always to work with you to find the roots of your difficulties. Whether you wish to alleviate feelings of anger, fear and guilt or are dealing with divorce, mid-life crisis, depression or a spiritual crisis, Jungian analytical counselling helps you find the right solution for you.

This is a safe place for you to tell your story, in a supportive, understanding environment. However, the Jungian therapeutic approach is not necessarily easy. This type of therapy does require work and commitment. We will become a team, helping you deal with old memories and plans for the future. Your talents, creativity and potential are unique and my approach is not to try to squeeze you into a clinical box. I would be truly honoured to help you find your authentic self.

Areas Of Specialization

Do you feel hopeless, unable to focus, with little or no sense of joy or well-being? Depression is widespread, misunderstood and not your fault. The complex physical and mental symptoms can range from decreased appetite, to feelings of helplessness or loss of interest in friends, family or sex. Jungian psychotherapeutic counselling can help us uncover the deeper meaning in your pain and find your path to living a better life.

Rage is extremely seductive. It makes us feel right when it is most inappropriate. While anger, like sadness or happiness, is a natural emotion, it does not give us a license to hurt people. Jungian psychotherapeutic counselling helps us to understand the roots of your anger, to help you to develop more self-understanding and make better choices.

Career Counselling:

Many people settle for a job that doesn't fulfill them. One of my favourite authors Joseph Campbell says to “follow your bliss.” Young people may feel they face an insurmountable problem in choosing a career and older people often have a mid-life crisis when they discover they have the ladder of success on the wrong wall. Jungian personality type is one of the most effective tools for determining the career that will make them happy.

  • Career Change & Assessment
  • Midlife Transitions
  • Learning Difficulties
  • Professional / Workplace Burnout

Eating Disorders:

Food is extremely seductive as a magical comfort to cover up pain. Eating disorders are widespread, misunderstood and not your fault. Jungian psychotherapeutic counselling strives to develop trust and reduce anxiety and shame. Anorexia and bulimia are the symptoms and if we can deal with the underlying cause, we can cure the symptoms. Jungian psychotherapy can liberate you to invest your energy in new opportunities instead of continuing to hurt yourself.

  • Eating & Depressive Disorders
  • Obsessions / Obsessive Behavior
  • Trust Issues

Are you under the control of an addiction and feel powerless to break free? Addiction is widespread, misunderstood and not your fault, but recovery is possible. Whether you are addicted to alcohol, drugs, food, sex, porn or gambling your addiction is not fulfilling you the way you hoped when you started. We will listen to your dreams looking for the symbolic meaning of the addiction, giving you insight into your behaviour and the ability to control your addiction.

  • Alcohol & Drug - Substance Addiction
  • Computer Gaming / Internet Addiction
  • Gambling Addiction
  • Sexual Addiction

Christian & Spiritual Counselling:

Christianity is at heart a religion based on love. Many people manage to love God and to love others, but despite their faith, find it difficult to love themselves. As a Baptist clergyman, as well as a Jungian psychotherapist, I counsel Christians with issues such as depression, anxiety, problems in relationships, abuse and conflict between sexuality and faith.

Couples Counselling:

Did you think you had married Helen of Troy or Alexander The Great, but have discovered you had just married Helen or Alex? Did your relationship start out full of excitement and promise, but is now struggling? Do you try to talk, but always end up arguing? Many people have an unrealistic image of what a relationship should be - no fighting, perfect sex, a harmonious life. Jungian psychotherapeutic counselling and personality typing is one of the most effective tools for helping you find a path to a better life together.

Family Therapy:

Your family is stressed, perhaps more than ever before, faced with continual change. My goal is to help you become a team again to find the strength which helps you make effective changes. Are you concerned about the mental health and well-being of your children? Children are like sponges, soaking up all the tension in their world and this often causes them to develop neurotic problems. I believe family therapy m ust go beyond the individual and focus on the family systems.

Grief and loss:

Any loss floods you with grief. From loosing a beloved pet as a child to aging, you feel all the symptoms, first shock, then denial, and finally the terrible pain of grief. You need to tell your story repeatedly and little by little you start to feel less pain. I will help you to genuinely experience the loss and pain, rather than bottling up these feelings, so you can rediscover meaning and move on in life.

Anxiety and Stress:

Do you suffer from generalized stress or acute anxiety attacks? The symptoms of stress can vary widely, but the causes of stress in our world increase daily. In stress counselling I help people to develop an understanding of who you are to help you deal with stress positively.

E-counseling is not superior or inferior to traditional counseling. For those who have trouble getting away from work, who live in remote locations or who travel for work, e-counseling is often more convenient. The same fees and 24-hour cancellation policy apply.

24 Cancellation Policy:

Scheduling counseling with so many different clients is always challenging and I must enforce a 24-hour cancellation policy. I am always happy to reschedule appointments, but cancelled appointments, in person or e-counseling, with less than 24 hours notice will be charged for the full hour.
